Imphal, May 28 : Jitendra Singh MoS (Home) visited HQ IGAR (North) on 28 May 2012 to review the security situation and other related issues. The Minister landed at Kohima at 0830 hrs in the morning where he was received by IGAR (North) and accorded a traditional Naga welcome at the helipad.
During his visit the minister laid a wreath at the Kohima War Cemetery to pay the homage to the fallen brave soldiers. Then he visited Mon and the forward post at Lungwa to assess the operational preparedness, where he interacted with troops and joined the troops for a lunch.
In the evening the MoS (Home ) called on Neiphu Rio, CM Nagaland. A dinner in his honour was also organised at the IGAR officers‘ mess where during his thanksgiving speech he lauded the role being played by the Officers and men of Assam Rifles as Sentinels of the North East.
At the end of his visit, the MoS (Home) complimented all ranks of IGAR (North) for their tireless efforts and dedication. He also praised and complimented all the government officials, NGOs, Churches, Media personnel, GBs and other state officials for their dedication and excellent cooperation with the security forces towards ensuring a peaceful, safe and congenial atmosphere in the Nagaland state.
