IMPHAL ,December 23: The Kangleipak Communist Party- Military Council (KCP-MC) in a press release by Korouhanba, its Assistant Secretary Military Affairs stated that since the inception of the outfit on August 3, 2007, the struggle for independence has been joined along with other like-minded liberation groups of the state.

It said that a decision taken by the Military Council has decided to request the cadres of the outfit who have been detained in judicial custody, those who have been out of touch with the organisation and have settled in other states particularly who had enrolled as soldiers of the KFL, should attend the last Party Congress of the outfit.

It further said that the members should reach the General Headquarters of the KCP (MC) within a week from today. The decision has been taken in the interest of the liberation movement and to further the revolutionary cause , it said.

IMPHAL, Dec 22: A combined team of the 28 Assam Rifles and Imphal west CDO have arrested an active member of the underground group PREPAK(PRO) from Singjamei market on December 20 afternoon around 1.20pm.

A release of the Imphal west police said the arrested UG have been identified as Ningombam Iman Singh alias Udhoi, 42 s/o Kunjashyam of Singjamei Kshetri Leikai with the Army No. 40120 of 40th batch of PREPAK(PRO).

The release also said another team of the CDO Imphal west also arrested another member of PREPAK(PRO) following a credible information given by the 18th Sikh from Mongsangei school leirak on December 20 evening around 6.10pm.

IMPHAL, Dec 22: A person succumbed to his injuries after he was knocked down by a speeding truck this morning about 8.20am at Kakching Lamkhai, under Kakching police station in Thoubal district.

The deceased person has been identified as Khamunsei Khoibu, 62 of Khangsim village.

According to reports, the person was knocked down by a speeding truck at Kakching Lamkhai. The driver of the truck bearing registration No. MN 01- 4127 surrendered to Kakching police immediately after the accident. The dead body have been handed over to family and relatives after conducting post mortem at JNIMS, Imphal.

During the programme, M Manojkumar, additional district judge, Manipur East spoke about the need to promote awareness on prevention of Alzheimer and related diseases and legal rights of the person suffering from the disease.

IMPHAL, Dec 22: All Loktak Lake Area Fishermen’s Union, Manipur, in a statement, has said at least 5000 dwellers of Loktak lake are currently taking shelter at Thanga Haorang Chingyang Community hall following torching of 1200 floating huts of Loktak lake by government authority.

The fishermen’s union also said at least eight persons who were injured during police action while participating in a rally on December 19 are currently undergoing treatment at various hospitals.

While alleging that OC Moirang Police intentionally beat up a women rallyist on December 19, the fishermen’s union demanded either transfer or dismissal of Moirang police OC namely Dhananjoy.

It has further stated that all through-out his 83 years of fruitful life, `Mama` Buragohain devoted and worked tirelessly towards the emancipation of the Assamese people from Indian Colonial yoke.

From incarceration in different Indian jails after his arrest by join forces of Royal Bhutan Army and Indian Occupation Forces, he was released recently. He believed that the aspiration and destiny of Assamese people lies only in its` sovereignty and independence. His sudden demise will leave a void in the struggle not only for Asom but for the entire region as well, the release added.

IMPHAL, Dec 21: Suspected militant cadres exploded a hand grenade at the residence of Kh Lukhoi, 68 of Laimapokpam under Nambol police station late last night.

The suspected militants lobbed the grenade last night at around 11pm which landed at Lukhoi’s residential courtyard and exploded; however there were no casualties during the blast.

Kh Lukhoi is further identified as a peon at the Bishnupur high school.

Police have registered a case in connection with the attack.

IMPHAL, December 20:  The proscribed UNLF has claimed that atleast ten personnel of the 17 Assam Rifles were injured during a well-planned ambush laid by cadres of the MPA at Nambasi village under Kasom Khullen sub-division of Ukhrul district around 10am.

According to a statement of the outfit signed by Ksh Yoheiba, senior publicity officer, a fighting patrol team of the MPA laid Claymore mines along the route where personnel of 17 AR were on patrol duty yesterday morning.

During the ambush, numerous AR personnel were injured, the statement added.

It has further claimed the ambush on a convoy of the 36 AR on November 15 at Old Samtal area which had injured numerous AR personnel, the statement added.

The party will continue to attack the Indian army, the release added.

IMPHAL, Dec 20: During the first day of the 12th session of the 9th Manipur Legislative Assembly, the state Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh who also holds the state finance minister laid the Finance Accounts, 2010-11 and the Appropriation Accounts, 2010-11 before the House.

The Chief Minister further presented the Twentieth Report of the Business Advisory Committee, 2011 which was further agreed by the House for the allocation of the time as proposed by the committee.

The Chief Minister further introduced the Manipur Lok Ayukta Bill, 2011 for consideration by the House.

The state law and legislative affairs minister and chairman of the House Committee on Private Members’ Resolution No 15 on Bandh and Blockade in the state of Manipur Th Debendra Singh also tabled the report of the house committee for further deliberation.
