IMPHAL, Nov 19: 46 Assam Rifles of 27 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of “Red Shield Division” inaugurated a vocational training centre at Neihsial Veng in Churachandpur district today.

Brigadier Vijay Sharad Ranade, Commander, 27 Sector Assam Rifles, while inaugurating the centre appreciated the efforts of the people in coming forward to create such amenities.

He also mentioned that there would be many more endeavours in the future for the benefit of the people.

IMPHAL, November 18: Two shops and a hotel which were rented out by a single owner were completely destroyed at Khabam bazar by a fire which resulted from an electric short circuit late last night at around 11:30pm.

Properties worth around Rs three lakhs were destroyed by the inferno.

According to locals, a fire tender arrived soon after the fire broke out and stop the fire from extending to the other buildings.

The owner has been identified as Khundom Inaobi of Khabam. The two shops have been rented out to Konjengbam Bashanti and Waikhom Rupa while the hotel has been rented out to Yehgkhai Haokip.

Locals informed that the fire broke out from Rupa’s Tyre workshop late last night.

IMPHAL, Nov 17: The United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF), while condemning the act of assualting two persons by some unknown armed miscreants at Sajik Tampak yesterday, has clarified that the outfit was not involved in the incident.

A release of the UKLF stated that the organization has been cooperating with the government on suspension of operation pact. It has been following the ground rules with strict discipline.

The news report on the local papers were also contradictory as some paper mentioned that the victims were MGNREGS workers and some other mentioned as PMGSY workers. Such false and contradicted allegation made to defame the organization will not be accepted by the organization and should not be trusted by the general public, it added.

IMPHAL, Nov 16: Discovering the movement of UG cadres in the general area of Langathel, troops of 15 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) launched operation in the area and apprehended one KYKL cadre today.

According to a PRO IGAR (s) reease, the apprehendee has been identified as No. 1755, s/s sgt Pukhrambam Amarjeet Singh alias Kamo, 22, s/o P Subachan Singh, r/o Langathel.

One 9 mm Pistol with magazine, five live rounds and 48 SP tablets were recovered from the apprehendee, the release added.

In yet another incident, troops of 17 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) launched operation in general area Kachal and apprehended two individuals alongwith 300 kgs of Ganja yesterday.

The apprehendees have been identified as Lalkeng Doungel, 53, s/o Prokholan, r/o Dongshum.Ukhrul dist and Holace Haokip, 30, s/o Thongjang, r/o Shongphel.Ukhrul dist.

IMPHAL, Nov 16: Former Minister Kh Jobon Singh, in a release, has condemned the act of burning down of 20 fishers’ huts on Loktak Lake by the state government.

He said that the act of SPF is akin to burning down of trucks and vehicles by blockade supporters on the national highways during economic blockade.

The lakes in Kashmir are well-known for their floating hotels and other houses, and similarly the huts on Loktak Lake are the centre of attraction of the tourists, Jibon noted.

He further demanded the state government to take up appropriate action for resettlement of the displaced fishermen.

IMPHAL, Nov 15: The medical team of 15 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) saved a snake victim, Biren Singh, s/o Tomba Singh of Yairipok Yambem (Thoubal) on November 14. The victim was brought to the Unit Hospital in a critical condition. The victim was immediately attended by the medical officer who administered life saving anti-snake venom. The patient was discharged after his condition was stabilized. Immediate medial intervention saved the life of the victim, stated a release of PRO IGAR (S).
