Education is a comprehensive process of acquiring knowledge. The system of education differs from one country to another, one state to another. Our state ranks high in literacy rate but glaringly low in quality, value-based and need-based education. Well, going through to the education system of Manipur, something is terribly wrong, something is amiss. Like a ghost in the machine, education system in our state of Manipur has a missing link.

Whether or not the three bills – the Protection of Manipur People Bill, 2015, the Manipur Land Revenue and Land Reforms (Seventh Amendment) Bill, 2015, and the Manipur Shops and Establishments (Second Amendment) Bill, 2015 – unanimously passed by the Manipur Assembly are constitutional is to be decided not even by the Parliament but by the Supreme Court of India, if the bills become an act.

Downtown of Atlanta City : It is the central place, in the heart of the city, for the diverse Atlanta community. It is situated in a 4 square miles area. It is run jointly by Central Atlanta Progress, a private, not-for-profit Corporation (founded in 1941) and Atlanta Downtown Improvement Progress (founded in 1995). In its middle lies the Centennial Olympic Park, a well-maintained and attractive park. In the periphery of the Park lies those famous buildings – CNN office complex, big hotels, Aquarium, American Cancer Society and other tall buildings/structures.

The day also witnessed the launching of the book entitled Shree Jaganath Sahashranam Stotram compiled by Shri Waikhom Manimohon Singh, at the office chamber of Director, IPR Govt of Manipur with Shri P Bharat Singh, IAS (Retd) as Chief Guest, Shri A Chitreswor Sharma, Sahitya Academy Awardee & Shri W Rajen Singh, Director, IPR as special guest and host respectively.

Kakching : 2 disappointments = 1 surprise

That was an unlucky day for us in Manipur, it seemed so. Don’t know on whose face we three woke up that morning in the hotel. It was only the three of us who were staying in the same room; so we must have seen each other’s face that morning. Or, still worse, each one of us must have seen their own face first thing in the morning in the mirror. This seems to be quite logical.

The most common risk factors for breast cancer cited by Dr Pooja Ramakant, Associate Professor, Department of Endocrine and Breast Surgery, Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore, are: sedentary life style and lack of exercise; obesity; smoking; late age at first child birth; nulliparity; excess estrogen; early menarche and late menopause; not breast feeding; radiation hazards; junk food and at times genetic mutations which may run in the family.
