IMPHAL April 5: A joint operation by commandos of Yairipok police station and 28 AR arrested one cadre of KCP (MC) Khaba group.
The arrested individual is identified as one Chingakham Sur,25,s/o Bapu of Andro Awang Leikai. Two assault rifles (G-3) and 20 live rounds were seized from the individual. Sur disclosed the location of the weapons and was dug up from Andro Machengpat by the police.

IMPHAL April 8: An army recruitment rally will be held at Senapati beginning from 18 to 24 April. The rally will be conducted at the Football ground,Senapati . The recruitment will be open for unmarried male candidates for Soldier General Duty for youth belonging to all districts of Manipur only and soldier clerk/store keeper technical, soldier technical/soldier nursing assistant for all NE states. Re-enrolment into DSC category for ex-servicemen will also be carried out. The screening of candidates will commence at 6:30 AM on each day commencing from 18 April, further details can be had from PIB(DW) at M sector, an army press release states.

IMPHAL, April 11: In an intermediate arrangement of the state Home Department the transfer and postings of five IPS officials including the seniors SPs and the three MPS officials have been made recently by the state government.
 As per the official order issued by the Joint Secy. DP, Sumant Singh on April, 8 this month,  mentioned that,  L Kailun, IPS Sr. SP Imphal West was transferred as DIG (Range91) with additional charge of SP Imphal West, Clay Khongsai, IPS, Sr. SP Thoubal was upgraded to DIG Headquarter / Administration with Additional charge of SP Imphal east, Manglemjao Singh, IPS, SP Security was transferred as  DIG, Armed Police-1,  G Bimolchandra Singh, IPS, SP Churachandpur was transferred as DIG Range-III.
The official order further mentioned that, Kh Chandramani Singh IPS, CO 7th  MR as DIG Range –II, Th Radheshyam Singh, SP Imphal East is transferred as SP Bishnupur, K Jayantaumar  Singh, Sp Bishnupur is transferred as SP Thoubal and  M Rajen Singh, MPS, Addl. IMPHAL, April 12: Manipur Naga Revolutionary Front (MNRF) in a press release by the outfit`™s information and publicity officer Max Stone heralds the need for a unified populace and especially among the insurgents groups demanding liberation.

The release states that the public has been reeling under a colonial rule since 1949 and the occupational forces have carried out countless crimes in the name of counter insurgency The need of the hour is not for different outfits to push forward their personal agendas and community based revolutionary ethos, but to be united to forward the revolutionary movement.

Outfits operating in the valley should be aware that MNRF also demands the liberation of the state. The outfits are not unified and there are many hiccups which have to be overcome to bring an united front and to identify the true enemy, it states.

There is no one in the outfit by the name of finance secretary Til and the revenue officer oversees all financial matters. The outfit has learned that the person referred as Til is carrying out rampant extortion and trying to malign the image of the outfit. IMPHAL, April 13:  Khurai polo club and MPSC (B) to play in finals Khurai Polo Club beat MPSC (A) and MPSC(B) beat Singjamei Pol club in the semi final matches of the 21st Governor’s Cup played today at Mapal Kangjeibung.
In the 1st semifinal match, Khural Polo defeated MPSC (A) by 10 -2. Khurai Polo Club’s Thomson scores in 1:00, 2:50 and 6:51 of the 1st chukker. Thomson scored three more goals in the 27, 39 and 7:19 min of the second chukker. Jotin scored in 2:34 of the third chukker and a by Jotin in 1:05 min and Th. Mocha in 2:24 and 4:46 of the fourth chukker.
For MPSC (B), S. Bimol scored both the goals in 4:52 min of the first chukker and 6:50 min of the third chukker.
In the second semi final match, MPSC (B) beat Singjamei Polo club 8 -5. Goals for MPSC (B) were scored by Abung in 0.12 min, 6:38 min and T. Pradeepkumar in 3:48,6:50 min of the first chukker. T. Pradeepkumar scored one more goal in the 2:08 min of the second chukker. In the third chukker, O. Suresh scored in the 0:30 min and A. Abngcha in 0:08 and 3:02 min of the fourth chukker.

IMPHAL April 20: One day discourse on Impact of Corruption and Extortion on Civil Society was held today at Classic hotel.

The one day discourse was jointly organized by Manipur Committee for Social Concerns and Kuki Research forum. The function was attended by many dignitaries, well known personalities, intellectuals and scholars.

Speaking on the occasion as the Chief Guest of the function veteran congressman Rishang Keishing said `MLAs and bureaucrats think only of the ways to benefit from corruptions`¦ they don`™t think for the welfare of the public`. He added that nowadays corruption has become more and more of a problem.

M.Prithiviraj, MLA said as the Guest of Honour of this function that the root causes of corruption and extortion is poverty and lack of employment in rural areas.

IMPHAL May 2: Journalism is a noble and humble profession, if one gets involved in it than one gets easily addicted said T.N. Hoakip, Minister Information and Public Relation at the inaugural function of 15 days Basic Course in News Reporting, organized by Department of Information and Public Relation, Government of Manipur, at Manipur Press club, Imphal, Today. He said that the readership rate determines literacy rate of a state, however, in Manipur the rate is very low.

The inaugural function was presided by TN Haokip, Minister IPR as the chief guest and Kengoo Zuringla, additional director ,IPR as the president respectively. For the past 15 years DIPR has been organizing such courses from time to time said Kengoo Zuringla.

The participants should take this course as an eye opener or a stepping stone to this noble profession, she added while giving her speech. Many seasoned journalists of the state, officers, media persons as well as participants of the 15 days Basic Course were present during the function. The 15 days Basic Course is commencing from today till May 19.

IMPHAL, May 3: Nine MPS Grade-II officers have been upgraded to MPS Grade-I in the pay scale of Rs.15,600 to Rs.39,100 plus Grade pay of Rs.6,600 per month on the recommendation of the Selection Committee in its meeting held on April 25 last month and in exercise of the power conferred under Rule 29 of MPS Rules, 1965.

In this regard an official order has been issued by the Additional Secretary (DP) T Ranjit Singh and as per the order all nine MPS Grade-II officials identified as Leishumthing Ragui Dy SP, L Sanajaoba Singh, AC 3rd IRB, Md Hushne Jaman Shah Dy. SP (Vigilance), L Birbabu Singh SDPO, Porompat, W Orjit Singh Dy. SP CID (CB), L Nanglianthang Dy. SP CID (SB), SP Thaisii SDPO Mao, O Menjor Singh, SDPO Jiribam and K Janglung Kabui Dy. IMPHAL, May 5: Combined team of YWC/Model defeated CRAU by six wickets in today`™s match of the 2nd MCA U-14 cricket tournament-2011.

In a match played today at Luwangpokpa ground, CRAU won the toss and elected to bat first.

CRAU scored a total of 94 runs with the loss of all their wickets in 34 overs thereby setting a target of 95 runs for the YWC/Model.

Chasing a low target Model reached the target in 26 overs with the loss of only four wickets and won the match by six wickets.

During the match, Joykumar of CRAU scored 22 runs while Suresh of Model took four vital wickets.
Model batsman N Pai scored 42 runs.

Ng Suresh of YWC/Model who took four wickets was declared man of the match.

YWC/Model have entered the final.
