Sixty thousand Spasmo Proxyvon capsules (drugs) were seized from Imphal airport y by the Manipur police.
A team of police led by Inspector RK Bikramjit Singh, Officer-in-Charge, Narcotics and Affairs of Border P.S under the supervision of Md. Ishak Shah, Superintendent of Police, NAB today seized highly sedative Spasmo Proxyvon tablets (drugs) with the arrest of a youth at Imphal Tulihal Airport yesterday at around 11.50 am.
The arrested youth is identified as MK. Habibur Rahmansss (21) s/o M.K Islauddin of Lilong Haoreibi Sambrukhong Mamei Leikai in Thoubal district.
According to police reports, following specific information the drugs were intercepted when the youth coming from New Delhi to Imphal by an Air India flight was seen moving in a suspicious manner. When the police team surrounded and detained him, Spasmo Proxyvon capsules numbering 60,000 capsules were found concealed in two bags with each bag containing 30,000 capcules. The estimated cost of the seized drugs is worth around Rs 3.5 lakh in local market.
On investigation, the arrested youth disclosed that the seized drugs were brought from different pharmaceuticals in New Delhi and were destined to spread in the markets of Manipur for the forthcoming festivals like Dipawali, Durga Puja, Ningol Chakouba with a huge profit.
Expressing concerns on such kind of drug trafficking, Inspector RK Bikramjit Singh, Officer-in-Charge of NAB P.S appealed to the general public not to indulge in such illegal drug trafficking and further requested to co-operate with the police and to inform of any such instance of selling/buying so as to curb the menace of drug abuse in the state.
