IMPHAL, June 24: The All Manipur Women Voluntary Association (AMAWOVA) has in a release strongly condemned the alleged rape of a 50 year old woman at a farm in Somrei Khul under Yairipok police station on June 17 and also the alleged rape of a 17 year old college girl after kidnapping her from her own college in Yairipok on June 19.  

The women body in its release demanded the state government to act fast to award befitting punishments to the culprits.

IMPHAL, June 24: The 69 Bn CRPF has in a release said that SP Singh, IG M&N Sector, CRPF and all officers and ranks of Manipur and Nagaland sector, CRPF expresses deepest condolence for the victims of Uttarakhand tragedy.      

“The officers and men have decided to donate one day’s salary to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund. The amount will be over rupees 18 crores. An announcement to this effect has been made by Pranay Sahay, DG CRPF in New Delhi,” the release said.      

“The CRPF deeply commiserates with the victims of the tragedy that has struck Uttarakhand. There has been large scale destruction of property and loss of lives in this disaster. The victims are our own brethren. The CRPF rank and file joins the countrymen in conveying its deepest concern for the victims of the tragedy,” it added.

IMPHAL, June 24: The Manipur Drivers’ Forum demanded to provide compensation for the 39 trucks that were destroyed till the 2011 blockade said Bhupendra Ghosh, advisor, Manipur Drivers Forum during a press conference at Manipur Press Club today.

Continuing further, he said during the last year Assembly session in June, Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar Singh has stated that the process for the payment of compensation for 29 trucks and had submitted to the Planning Department, however there has been no payment of compensation till date.

He further appealed to the MLAs to take up the issue during the ongoing Assembly session and bring a solution for the provision of compensation to the 29 trucks for which, all process has been stated to be completed and to start the process for the remaining 10 more trucks at the earliest.

He further raised question for the delay in provision of compensation.

Elaborating on the problem faced by the truck drivers he said the government has to provide more securities for the security of the drivers because still they are facing problems in the NH.

IMPHAL, June 24: A press release issued by Deputy Superintendant of Police (Ops), Bishnupur, Bishnupur District, Manipur said that on June 24 at about 3:00 p.m., based on specific information a combined team of Bishnupur District Police Commandos and Imphal East led by ASI. N. Nandalal Singh, CDO-Bishnupur conducted search operation at Bramahpur Bheigyabati Leikai, PS-Porompat, District- Imphal East and arrested l (one) cadre of PREPAK(Pro) namely, Sanasam Rabi Singh alias  

Lalpuba alias Sura, 3l, son of S. Loken Singh of Pishumthong Oinam Leikai near Lairembi Lampak, Imphal West District, PS-Singjamei and recovered 3(three) numbers of Chinese Hand Grenade, 4(four) live rounds of 9mm ammunitions and 2(two) numbers of mobile Hand Set with S1M cards. On questioning, it was revealed that the individual was earlier working as a cadre of UNLF organization and he was involved in the extortion and serving of monetary demand letters to the general public/Govt. official in Imphal East area and the arrested accused person and seized items are handed over to the Porompat Police Station, he added.
