Imphal, August 11 NNN: Chief Advisor of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) group of Military Task Force, Mr City Meitei has been brought here today from New Delhi by a special team of Manipur police by an Indian Airlines flight after the state Government met leaders of six different faction groups of the militant outfit in New Delhi on July 31 wherein the two sides agreed for a peace process.
The Chief Advisor of KCP (MTF) City Meitei, whose real name is Naorem Brojen, son of late N Nara, is a resident of Tentha Khunou Wangjing in Thoubal district. Hearing the news of his home coming for peace talks here, hundreds of local residents of his native village came to Imphal Tulihal Airport to accord a warm wel come to the militant leader.
“I have come to Imphal for peace talks with the Government. Both sides have not yet decided for any condition so far but my stance will be divulged to the public after having a clear understanding about the Government’s wish,” City Meitei told journalists at the airport before leaving it.
“All the answers will be given next time,” he said when journalists asked him several questions on the proposed peace process. Then the police carried him away quickly from the airport in a Maruti car with alertness.
City Meitei was brought to the state from New Delhi by a special police team led by IK Muiva Superintendant of Police, Jail and Modhunimai, SDPO, Imphal West district police. Notably, the peace talks between the four KCP factions, namely KCP (Lamphel), KCP (Taibangnganba), KCP (Pakhanglakpa) and KCP (MTF) and Manipur Government was finalised in New Delhi on July 31 during a joint meeting of the representatives of the state Government which included IK Muiva and a minister and leaders of the four militant groups.
