Imphal, Aug 30: Headquarters 9 Sector Assam Rifles of HQ IGAR(South) would be celebrating its 66th Raising Day on 01 Sep 12. The Sector, being the oldest Sector Headquarter of Assam Rifles, was raised on 01 Sep 1947 at Tuensang in Nagaland. The Sector Headquarters moved to Keithelmanbi on 30 Dec 2004. The Sector has been in the forefront of operations as well as assistance to locals throughout its glorious history and presently has its footprints in Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal and Bishenpur.
The Sector plans to celebrate this momentous occasion by organizing a number of ceremonial and population based functions. These will include Run for Peace, Essay Competition, Football coaching camp and Inauguration of class room for the students of Uthlao village in govt school. Amongst the functions with the troops it will include Religious ceremony, Flag hoisting, special Sainik Sammelan, friendly Basketball and Volleyball matches,meena bazar, pagal gymkhana and barakhana along with variety entertainment programme is being organized .
