Imphal, Aug 30: The IBN Network, in partnership with IRB Infrastructure Developers Ltd., recognised the achievements of nine young Indians at the 3rd edition of Young Indian Leaders Awards held in New Delhi. In a glittering awards ceremony, Chief Guest Sachin Pilot, MoS for Communications & IT, felicitated the winners, including Kamal Medhi from Meghalaya. The event opened with a power-packed performance by popular music band Euphoria.
‘Young Indian Leaders Awards’ in its 3rd Edition applauds the youth of our nation for their accomplishments, commitment to society and their zeal to contribute in shaping the future of India.
This path-breaking initiative is meant to honour and showcase young achievers from various fields of expertise, who symbolize optimism and can be a source of inspiration to the nation’s youth. The award adheres to a process of selection which has the IBN Network Editorial Board at its core.
The premier trophy given to all award recipients represents the patriotic zest of today’s youth. Embellished with the colours; of saffron, white and green crystals, illuminate the impressive ‘Y’ shaped trophy.
Kamal Medhi works for the Samrakshan Trust, an NGO working for sustainable development of forest-dependent communities. For seven years, Medhi has been at the forefront of a movement that aims to involve the community comprising 36 villages in the Baghmara area of Lower Garo Hills in conservation efforts, making them see the efficacy of their efforts, helping them engage in livelihood issues through eco-tourism.
The Grand Finale of the awards ceremony will be telecast on CNN-IBN, IBN7 and IBN-Lokmat on September 8, 2012 at 6:00 pm, 8:00 pm and 6:00 pm respectively.
Speaking about the awards, Rajdeep Sardesai, Editor-in-Chief, CNN-IBN, IBN7 & IBN Lokmat, said, “We at the IBN Network are proud to recognize these Young Indian Leaders for the third year in a row. This initiative aims to identify people who have the spirit to excel and follow their goal with single-minded passion. We are extremely proud to felicitate the youth icons of India, who have contributed towards the nation’s growth and welfare”
Speaking about the awards, Ashutosh, Managing Editor, IBN7, said, “We are proud to acknowledge these young achievers whose passion and commitment to pursue something out of the league led them to achieve what becomes a landmark for others”.
Speaking about the awards, Nikhil Wagle, Editor, IBN-Lokmat, said: “It’s an honour to felicitate such leaders who continually infuse new energy and ideas and work on the frontlines of social change.”
