IMPHAL, Feb 8 NNN: After registering a two-day pen down strike, the Family Welfare Department Employees Association (FWDEA) has again gone on an indefinite strike from Friday in support of its demand for appointment of Director in charge of the department.
“Since the Director of the state Family Welfare Department is now on leave, a series of important activities of the department has been put to a halt so we have already demanded filling up of the vacant post of Director in charge of the department through a memorandum to the state Health minister,” FWDEA secretary P Romen told reporters.
The association had earlier warned the Government to fulfill its demand else it would launch agitation from February 6, he said.
He said, “Appointment of Director in charge of the department is crucial as the Director has been absent from office since December 19, 2012 and he will be on leave till February 26.”
Such long days of leave by the Director have caused serious inconveniences to the department, he added.
