IMPHAL, March 30: The Deputy Chief Minister and MPCC president, Gaikhangam said there are indications anti-social elements are preparing to use force to hijack the results of the upcoming ADC election results, but if the election is fought free and fair, democratically and on political issues only, all 140 seats of the six ADCs can be retained by the Congress.

While interacting with the media in the Congress president`™s office, at the Congress Bhawan this evening, he said that ADC election which is going to held on May 30 is a normal procedure as the first term is due to end.

We hope that the State Election Commission will officially publishing the electoral roll within April and target to conduct the May smoothly. We also hope result will be declared by the first week of June, he said.

Highlighting some of his party`™s strategy for the ensuing ADC election, he said the Congress party will fight all the seats. If there are no disturbances from anti social elements and free and fair election results, Congress can secure all seats again as in the last election in 2011, he said.

This time Congress party will fight alone, he said.

There some input that the NSCN-IM brothers are going to support some candidates with the use of force, seriously limiting the public in choosing their leaders, he said. He appealed to all organisations and individuals to ensure a free and fair election in the public interest.

`Using physical force to coerce voters by any party will tarnish the worth of ADC election,` he said.

He is wary that the NPF can produce proxy candidates in this election taking the support of dictatorial forces in hill areas. If the party has honourable objective, vision and ideology, the party must fight the election free and fair, and allow the public to make their own free choices, he said.

He said whereas the UNC has appealed to people not to vote in the ADC election, it is uncertain what the NPF is preparing to do just as yet, he said.

Gaikhangam further said that notification for inviting Congress candidates for all six districts will be out on April 6.
