IMPHAL, Aug 23: The Meitei Council Moreh and All Community Organisation Moreh, ACODOM, in a joint press release said following the August 18 unfortunate incident and the August 19 meeting between MCM and Hill Tribal Council Moreh, it has been resolved all parties will endeavour there is never a repeat of the unfortunate violent incident prompted by a misunderstanding between the communities.

The release also added that because of the destruction of properties suffered by many small business establishments on the day, the shops are still not functional though calm has returned. In this regard, the release also appealed to the government to make compensations at the soonest.

IMPHAL, August 23: The Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR) has appealed to all concerned stake holders to ensure safety, security and child friendly measures while dealing with juvenile protestors considering the strong participation of young children in the ongoing `Mass Indefinite Hunger Strike` in the State.

In a statement, the Child Rights Commission expressed grief over the alleged maltreatment of certain juvenile hunger strikers, who were undergoing treatment at RIMS, as reported in media.

The Commission reminded all concerned that it is mandatory for police and everyone dealing with the children/ juveniles to fully adhere with the `Fundamental Principles` as laid down in `The Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Rules, 2007`.

In any circumstances, the dignity of the juveniles should not be undermined, it added.

The statement further expresses its unhappiness over the recent decision to withdraw Routine Medical Checkups and Ambulance Service by the Directorate of Health Services, Government of Manipur.

It recommended resumption of Medical Checks-up of the Hunger Strikers particularly juvenile hunger strikers with Ambulance service for pick-up for critical ones.

Medical Service being an essential one should not be called off by the concerned authority on the pretext that some doctors, nursing stuffs on duty were attacked, Ambulance Van were damaged by the protestors or medical service rendered were refused by the hunger strikers, it added.

The Child Right Commission has also appealed to protestors, general public and all Civil Bodies to comply with the universally accepted norms and standards to be maintained during conflict situation and said it is imperative to exempt the medical service, doctors, nurses or ambulance from the strictures of agitation and should not do any harm to them, the press release issued by its Member, MCPCR said.

IMPHAL, August 23: MLA RK Imo of Sagolband Assembly Constituency today said the Peace Accord signed between NSCN(IM) and Central Government should not name as Indo-Naga Peace Accord because the NSCN(IM) cannot represent all the Naga communities.

The MLA was attending the celebration of Procurement of Land Allotment order Wahengbam Yumjao Lairembi held today at Wahengbam Yumjao Lairembi community hall.

He further said that the accord was signed between an organisation called NSCN(IM) with Central Government.

He also regretted that the content of the accord is still kept hidden to this date from the governments of Manipur, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, all of which are important stake holders in the development, he said.

He further said this has given room for suspicions amongst all the neighbouring states and their governments.

The MLA further said the ILP or an appropriate act will surely come about in the state soon to check constant influx of population from outside.

He said the thorny issue is the cut-off date of 1951 to determine domicile.

On the celebration of procurement of land allotment he said that it was the result of hard work jointly of the people of Sagolband and the Chief Minister who heard the voice of the people in the interest of the people.

He asserted that more developmental work will be taken up in the coming days.

IMPHAL, August 23: Following yesterday`™s gunning down of an Aimol villager, Manglun alias Walunglua Aimol, allegedly by the NSCN(IM), the Aimol Tribe Union, Manipur, in a statement today came out strongly defending the NSCN(IM) action, saying the murdered man is a UKLF PRO, appointed on June 13-14, this year at Ngairong Village by the UKLF.

The release also identified the injured persons in the same incident as Parithoi Aimol from Khunjai, a UKLF sergeant major, besides Joseph Kuki, Asiak Aimol and another Kuki persons, all UKLF cadres.

The release clarified that there has been no one trying to force the Aimols to join the Naga family, for the Aimol people themselves had sought to be inducted into the Naga family. The portrayal otherwise in the media was false propaganda of the family of the deceased persons, it said.

The release further thanked the NSCN(IM) for their endless effort to accept the Aimol tribe into the Naga family.

Listing past crimes against the Aimol tribe by Kuki militants, the release said the UKLF fired on the Aimol Tribe President`™s residence on July 2 this year, and the attackers were led by Manglun alias Walunglua who was killed yesterday.

It further charged that on May 31, one Maj. Aditya Kapoor of the AR E Coy, came with masked UKLF men who they recognised as Jacob alias Thangboi from the ceasefire monitoring cell and fired from AK-47 rifles at women on night duty killing Mrs. Ruisoting Aimol and injuring three others.

It also charged that on August 6 at Pallel Bazar, two women leaders of Aimol Kumbirei Village were hit with an Activa two wheeler by two UKLF men, and were later accosted by the public and handed over the NSCN(IM), and upon interrogation by the NSCN(IM) they have revealed they were instructed by UKLF high authorities to kill and torture Aimol people.

The release further said the UKLF has been torturing and harassing the Aimol people since 2014, and it appealed to the media not to accept propaganda spread by vested interests without first confirming with the Aimol Tribe Union, Manipur.

IMPHAL, Aug 23: Manipur State Council of Communist Party of India celebrated its 68th foundation day today at Irawat Bhavan, Imphal.

L Iboyaima, secretariat member, MSC/CPI; L Thoiren, deputy secretary (Orgn), MSC/CPI; A Lala, secretariat member, MSC/CPI; B Sharma, chairman, Control Commission, MSC/CPI attended as presidium members.

Dr M Nara, secretary, MSC/CPI and N Mangi, deputy secretary (Adm), MSC/CPI were the main speakers of the function.

Speaking at the function N Mangi mentioned the role played by MSC/CPI founding comrade Irawat during his time for the integrity of Manipur. Irawat`™s contribution in the field of Sports, culture, literature, politics etc were also highlighted in his speech.

He appealed to all the communities residing in the hill and valley to be united leaving their differences in religion, caste or creed, to save the integrity of Manipur.

He informed that around 35 thousand hectares of paddy fields of the State have been completely destroyed in the recent flood. He said according to the State Agriculture Department it cost around Rs 45 thousand to farm one Hectare of agricultural land which means that around 15 to 20 crore rupees damage has been done to the farmers by the flood.

He said the MSC/CPI demands the State government to approach the Centre to provide relief for the losses to the formers of the State.

IMPHAL, Aug 23: The JAC against the brutal killing of Md. Majid Khan and Seriously Turtue of Md. Alauddin, appealed for justice in the matter.

A release said the two were accosted from their Maruti Alto Car from a shop at Yumnam Leikai, Imphal West, by four or five unknown people and abandoned at Paona Bazar where police recovered the two.

Md. Majid Khan died after battling for life at the RIMS and Md Alauddin is still in serious condition, the release said.

The JAC demanded the kidnappers to give reason why the two were kidnapped and treated thus. Even if he had committed some offense why was no attempt made to bring him back to the mainstream instead of simply thinking of putting an to his life, the release asked.

The prevailing atmosphere in the state and the culture of simply killing people without rhyme or reason has made the minority Muslims insecure the release further said.

The release further asked for an inquiry into the killing of Md. Majid Khan failing which the JAC will launch protests, the release said.
