Jiribam, 27 Sept: Following the recent case of the abandoned child in Jiribam supermarket, CWC Imphal east has directed the Jiribam police to escort the child to Imphal. A directives has been issued addressed to Officer-in-charge, Jiribam Police station , by Keisam Pradipkumar, Chairperson, CWC Imphal east, Ref.CWCIE/Trans/Jiri01/2015 , dated 26th Sept.

”It has been brought to my knowledge that a  one and half year old female child is presently under treatment at Community Health Centre, Jiribam ,  and the child was allegedly found from  Jiribam Super Market on 25th September, 2015 around 5.30 p. m. where the child was abandoned.

As per the first information received, the said child is in need of proper medical treatment and even surgical operation in order to save her life. It is also learnt that lot of  inconveniences are being faced there because of lack of institutional support, medical facilities supposed to be provided to the child.   On the other hand, the Existing ICPS services through DCPU, SAA etc. are not accessible at Jiribam as of now.

Considering the available information and facts, the Child Welfare Committee Imphal East, which is the competent authority constituted under The Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2000 is of the opinion that early  transfer of the child from Jiribam to Imphal is quit essential for proving medical care and safety of the child.

Therefore, the OC of the Jiribam  P.S. is hereby directed to make necessary arrangement of escorting  the child with the help of Special Juvenile Police Unit (SJPU) including one woman police of Jiribam police station, for bringing upto Imphal and  produce before the  Child Welfare Committee Imphal East, at Wangkhei Ayangpalli Road Imphal East, P.S. Porompat at the earliest.

However, before initiating transfer process of the child taking advice and getting a medical fitness certificate for travelling upto Imphal should be obtained from the concerned doctor treating the child,  in order to avoid any health related complications during the journey.” read the directives.
