IMPHAL, Nov 30: Discovering the movement of UG cadres in general area Yumnam Khunou of Ukhrul district, troops of 23 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector under HQ IGAR(South) launched operation in the area and apprehended one each PREPAK and UNLF cadres on Nov 29. The apprehendees were identified as No 34813, batch no.34(2002), Thangjam Bashan Singh alias Mantrhriba, 23 yrs of PREPAK, s/o Tomal Singh of Yumnam Khunou Maiyai Leikai and No.9632, batch no.51 (2008), Thangjam Rajesh alias Inao Abung alias Sekmaichaoba alias Loungakpa Singh, 20 yrs of UNLF,  s/o Th Sarat Chandra Singh of Yumnam Khunao Makha Leikai. Both the apprehendees were handed over to Heigang Police station stated the released.

IMPHAL, November 30: A playground was inaugurated yesterday at Shangji village under Nungba a/c by M Daniel, member ADC Tamenglong, 19-Dolang DCC.

The playground had been constructed under the aegis of the BRGF.

Speaking at the inaugural function, M Daniel alleged that the local MLA had failed to construct the playground earlier and as such the inauguration of the playground has been delayed.

He further stated that the local populace is witnessed that the local MLA has failed to start any developmental work in the region since 30 years.

He further informed that the roads of the area are in deplorable condition during rainy seasons and during other seasons, the road is filled with dust.

Meanwhile, village authority secretary in his address had appealed to the ADC member to extend the playground and make it a more standard ground; water supply, to make electricity supply better. The ADC member further assured the gathered public that he will fulfil all the demands during his five year tenure as member of ADC.

He further charged that the local MLA has failed to bring any development to the area and further added that even though everyone has been complaining against the MLAs of Imphal areas, they have been doing development works in their respective constituencies.

IMPHAL, Nov 29: The proscribed UNLF has condoled the death of CPI (Maoist) leader Koteshwar Rao alias Kishenji who was killed by CRPF on November 25 at Jhargram, West Bengal.

A statement issued by UNLF senior publicity officer Ksh Yoiheiba mentioned that Kishenji was a great revolutionary fighter who fought for 37 years for the poor and downtrodden people under the Indian capitalist regime. He was also a true revolutionary who stood by the genuine cause of the Manipuris who have been fighting to regain their lost sovereignty and independence forcibly annexed by India, it added.

IMPHAL, November 28: The three days long general strike imposed by the Kangleipak Communist Party (MC) starting from this morning at 10am has partially affected normal life in the state during the first day today.

Even though most passenger vehicles including inter-state and inter district vehicles remained off the roads, most educational institutions and government offices remain functional.

The outfit had called the strike in protest against the killing of one of its cadre in an alleged encounter with the security forces.

Meanwhile, most shops were seen with open shutters in the bazar area with only a few remaining closed. However the main bazars remain open.

The prize distribution function was attended by MLA Th Shyamkumar, social worker S Inaobi, S Kunjahari, W Rajen, director of education (s) as the chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.

Speaking at the function, MLA Shyamkumar stated that frequent bandh and strike has seriously affected the academic atmosphere in the state.
