IMPHAL, July 4: In the wake of the announcement of the private school welfare association to include Thang-Ta course as co-curricular syllabus, the Kanglei Indigenous Martial Arts and Cultural Society (KIMACS) has asked three instructors each from various Thangta institute to join a 10 days refresher course to be started from July 6, 2011 at the KIMACS office, informed a statement of the KIMACS.

IMPHAL, July 11: Marking the Kang festival and sending a message of peace and prosperity a 10 km run was organised by 18 Sikh regiment under 9 Sector Assam Rifles – IGAR (S), Wangoi Police and the local youth clubs, today.

A statement issued by the PRO IGAR (S) said the run participated by a total of 500 children below fifteen years of age and over 400 youths of Wangoi area was flagged off from Hayanthang Bridge and concluded at the Mayalambi College.

The event was attended by commanding officer 18 Sikh regiment who was the chief guest.

Addl SP Pushpanjali, IPS and SDPO Singjmei Vikramjit also attended the event added the release.

Further according to the statement, the event was conducted under the three categories of men, women and children (under 15 years).

The run was followed by a prize distribution ceremony wherein fiv runnersfrom each categories received prizes which were distributed by CO 18 Sikh regiment and addl SP Pushpanjali.

Various consolation prizes were also distributed during the prize distribution ceremony, added the release.

IMPHAL, July 17: A motorist was killed today in a road mishap at Kyamgei Pallahanbi near Standard Robert English School under Singjamei Police station.

The victim is identified as one Irengbam Devananda, 49, s/o (L) Bheiga of Lilong Arapti. Reports said that the man coming on a NV scooter loose control and fell from his scooter. He was rushed to JNIMS but succumbed to his injury on the way.

IMPHAL, July 22: The Manipur People’s Party (MPP) has demanded that the government set up an expert team to study the harmful effects of the shutter dams that are constructed at Waishel and Merakhong rivers. Unless immediate measures are taken up to remove these dams, the party warned in a press statement, villagers residing along these rivers and their properties are exposed to imminent destruction during the rainy season. It further castigated the IFCD and minor irrigation department for skirting the issue by pinning the responsibility on each another.

IMPHAL, July 24: Bridge of Hope joined the rest of the world in celebrating Parents Day. At Waikhong the program was graced by Shri M. Binod Singh Social Worker, Shri M. Tombi Singh Sr. Lecturer, KakchingKhunou College , Shri Kh. Udoichand Singh Head Master, KakchingKhunou Govt. High School as Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and President respectively.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri. M. Binod Singh emphasized on the significance of the celebration. He stressed  that the celebration of Parents Day not only provide an opportunity for the loving reciprocation between child and parents but also in this rapidly changing society, divorce takes place as frequent as wedding. IMPHAL, Aug 7: All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU) has appealed to the authorities concerned to resolve the present crisis of Sadar Hills and ensure that the blockade on the national highways is lifted in the interests of the people of the state. A release of the AMSU stated that the national highways have been used by some organizations as a tool to fulfill some of their vested interests. The central as well as state government should set up highway protection force to ensure that no disturbance is given to the transportation of essential commodities, it added.

The association further clarified that the office of the Guwahati High court, Imphal Bench has been functioning as usual.

IMPHAL August 24: Assistant secretary, publicity and propaganda of PREPAK, Leibak Ngakpa Luwang in a statement warns that ex cadres or members of the outfit cannot contest in the general elections or any other election associated with the Indian government.

It said that the stance was again reaffirmed by the Central Committee of the outfit as per resolve taken on April 1994.

PREPAK warns that any individual defying the party norms will be viewed as a traitor and working against the outfit. It warns of dire consequences if the warning goes unheeded and if one starts campaigning for elections, the public should not collude with such individuals and the person should remain cautious, it said.

IMPHAL, Aug 28: The recent notification issued by the department of personnel and administrative reforms regarding the amendment of Manipur Finance Service Rules, 1998 has affected the seniority order of MFS officers of the state.

According to an official source, the new rule which was added as Rule 28 (V) has contravened the earlier norms of fixing seniority of MFS officers. Such rule is not equated with other service rules of MCS and MPS cadres of the state, it said.

The seniority list of 70 MFS officers has been framed according to the date on which they joined the finance service. The final seniority list of 17 officers was also published vide order no. 1/8/20-MFS (pt.1), dated 4/4/2007.

However, as per the new amended rule, the seniority list has been made from the date of regular appointment of the post of entry grade.

It may be mentioned that 28 MFS officers grade-III were appointed on March 31, 1999 while another 13 officers on April 20, 2002. Another batch of 30 MFS officers was also appointed on the recommendation of Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC).
