IMPHAL, May 4: The declaration ceremony of the newly succeeded Khullak (village chief) of Khoupum village, Gaibirei Rongmei son of Gaithaodaipou Rongmei (former khullakpa) was held on May 2, 2012 at the Khullakpa’s residence Thanagong village with customary rites and rituals. As a part of the ritual, sacred customary wine was offered by the khullak’s family to the guests present. Namkhamrei Gangmei, Muhrup offered oblation invoking the blessing of the almighty (Tingkao Ragwang) and also publicly declared the new khullak by using a piece of metal called Tan Laogai as a part of the indispensable traditional rite.
