Sangita Memorial Division I League Day’s matches end in ties as teams put up formidable fight

Imphal, Jun 25: YWC Langtha-bal and GC CRPF Langjing put a good fight but their match ended in a 2-2 draw in the today’s first match of the eight-team 23rd Sangeeta Memorial Division I League football organised under the aegis of the Imphal West District Football Association at Awang Sekmai.
The Langthabal started the attack with A Jameson cleverly passing through the Langjing defence and scoring a goal. However, they faltered in the midway. Taking advantage of the break in the momentum of their play, the CRPF made no mistake in the counterattack. In the gap of five minutes, they scored twice putting immense pressure on YWC. GC CRPF led the match in the first half by a margin of 2–1 but YWC netted an equaliser just two minutes before the end of playtime and saved themselves from an undesirable defeat.

Kuki Students’ Organisation (KSO) Shillong branch has condemned in the strongest terms the killing of Letkholal @ Palal, president of Haokip Students’ Organisation (HSO) and secretary information and publicity of Haokip People’s Council (HPC), who was shot dead by unknown persons on June 23 night.
In a press release, the organisation said Letkholal was a devoted social leader who relentlessly worked for the upliftment of Kuki community.
It urged all individual/organisation concerned not to repeat such killing of a student leader in future.

The JAC formed in connection with the disappearance of Khundrakpam ningol Romila Devi from Sareikhong under Litan police station will organise a public meeting tomorrow at Itam Nungoi community hall.
A press release issued today by the JAC’s convenor stated that the previously planned agitation slated for tomorrow as a result of the failure of the authority concerned to provide any tangible lead on the issue, has been cancelled in connection with the Eid ul Fitr festival and appealed all the CSOs and parties concerned to participate in the public meeting.
