Thoubal: Khangabok Kendra MLA O Surjakumar provided financial assistance of Rs 20,000 to the selected candidate of IIT-JEE, Rapsan Singh, who secured 7846 rank in the preliminary round and 7086 rank in the qualifying round of IIT-JEE.
He was selected among three candidates of the State and more than 7 lakh candidates in total. Surjakumar stated that he will extend possible support until he finishes his engineering course.

Kuki Students’ Organisation (KSO) Shillong branch has condemned in the strongest terms the killing of Letkholal @ Palal, president of Haokip Students’ Organisation (HSO) and secretary information and publicity of Haokip People’s Council (HPC), who was shot dead by unknown persons on June 23 night.
In a press release, the organisation said Letkholal was a devoted social leader who relentlessly worked for the upliftment of Kuki community.
It urged all individual/organisation concerned not to repeat such killing of a student leader in future.

The JAC formed in connection with the disappearance of Khundrakpam ningol Romila Devi from Sareikhong under Litan police station will organise a public meeting tomorrow at Itam Nungoi community hall.
A press release issued today by the JAC’s convenor stated that the previously planned agitation slated for tomorrow as a result of the failure of the authority concerned to provide any tangible lead on the issue, has been cancelled in connection with the Eid ul Fitr festival and appealed all the CSOs and parties concerned to participate in the public meeting.

Troops of Noney Battalion provided necessary assistance and guidance to 30 students and five school staff of Smartstalk School, who had planted 100 tree saplings in village K Tuikwan under Kangchup Post as a part of extensive plantation drive. Students and school staff participated for this noble cause with full enthusiasm. The aim of the drive was to educate the local population and students in regards of the positive effects of afforestation which lead to a clean and healthy environment, informed a statement issued by PIB, Defence, Imphal.
