IMPHAL, June 4: The first meeting of the Public Undertakings Committee of the Manipur Legislative Assembly for the year 2011-12 will be held on June 10 this month in the Committee room A of the state Assembly Secretariat to discuss about the Reports of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India for the year ended March, 2010, along with the Reports of the state Finance (Report No. 1) and to make a detail program for para-wise examination of the various Corporation under CAG’s report.In this regard an official notification has been issued recently by the deputy secretary of the Manipur Legislative Assembly on June 2 this month and advised all concerned members of the PUC to make it convenient to attend the said meeting.

IMPHAL, June 7: The district magistrate Imphal West district has clamped prohibitory order under Cr.P.C 144 in the entire Imphal West district from 6 pm today until further notice.K. Radhakumar Singh, District Magistrate, Imphal west in his order has prohibited assembly of five or more persons which is likely to turn unlawful in the district and also carrying of sticks, stones, firearms and weapons of any description or objects which can be used as offensive weapons.The order however stated that the prohibitory shall not apply to government agencies involved in the enforcement of law and order and the maintenance of essential services.It informed that persons who want to take out processions for marriages, funeral and religious purposes etc. within the district are asked to apply for permission and refrain from taking out procession until permission is obtained.

IMPHAL,June 13: The result of the MBBS/BDS Entrance Examination, 2011 which was held on June 12 was declared this afternoon.

According to a notification of the director of health services, the select list as well as the wait list category-wise will separately drawn up later on the basis of this result on merit as and when the total number of MBBS/BDS seats is available to the director of the health services, Manipur.

The notification has also stated that the results of those candidates who have not submitted complete testimonials or documents are provisional.

MOREH, June 19: The 31 Assam Rifles under the aegis of headquarters 26 sector   Assam Rifles recovered 500000 nos of assorted medicine from two drug peddlers named Amarjit Singh a resident of Heirok, Thoubal district and Boboy Singh of Wangjing also of Thoubal district while they were attempting to peddle the consignment from Dimapur to Moreh on June 18.

The recovered drugs has been calculated to be worth around Rs 1.5 crore as confirmed from the Narcotics Control Bureau. The apprehendees and recovered item have been handed over to Narcotic Control Bureau, Imphal for further investigation.

IMPHAL June 22: Following up on an alleged assault and undue detainment of an employee of the Manipur High Court Bar Association by Manipur police commandos on the night of June 9 at Wangkhei Durga Puja Lampak, the association having condemned the incident has been demanding justice ever since.

Briefing reporters at the association’s office at the Gauhati High Court complex today, president of MHCBA senior advocate N Kumarjeet said that a meeting of the members of the association was held on June 17 last and a sub committee was formed to take up substantive legal action in the regard.

Following the resolve, a writ petition was tendered to the GHC on June 20 which was subsequently moved today.

Advocate L Somorendro assisted in forwarding the case at court today, the petition urged the court that the police action is against the rule of law and further to issue a show cause notice in the regard and to register an FIR against the accused police personnel.

The respondents of the show cause notice are commissioner (Home), DGP of Manipur, SP Imphal East and OC of Porompat police station. The Gauhati High Court in the issued show cause notice to the respondents has mentioned why the case should not be investigated and further to be made returnable to the court by July 14.

IMPHAL, July 4: All Manipur Hills District JAC on Implementation of SSA Manipur has informed that as enunciated in the RTE Act and SSA norms and guidelines in section 8 and 9 of the Act, the responsibility and supervision of RTE has been fixed upon the education department all over the Indian states but not in Autonomous District Councils. 

The concerned headmaster/headmistress/MDCs/EDS and SMDC members should not accept the formation of the school management committee vide government order no.30/19/09-SE dt. 14/6/2011 till the revocation of the said orders and SSA/RTE acts and norms are followed, said a release.

The victim is identified as one Irengbam Devananda, 49, s/o (L) Bheiga of Lilong Arapti. Reports said that the man coming on a NV scooter loose control and fell from his scooter. He was rushed to JNIMS but succumbed to his injury on the way.

IMPHAL, July 22: An agricultural tour organised by 17 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector under the aegis of IGAR(S) was flagged of by Major General C A Krishnan, AVSM, IGAR(S) in simple ceremony organised at the HQ IGAR (South), Mantripukhri on 22 Jul 2011.

A release of PRO IGAR (S) stated that the agricultural tour has been conceptualised to give the farmers a first hand experience in the latest trends and technologies of modern farming by visiting various Agri-institutes and interaction with agricultural scientist at Solan and Shimla in Himachal Pradesh, Solan and Shimla were the chosen destination of the tour because of the similar weather, soil and altitudes as obtained in Ukhrul. The tour in which a total of 17 farmers will participate is scheduled from 25 Jul to 09 Aug 2011. The tour aims at introducing modern agricultural techniques including horticulture and floriculture techniques in Ukhrul Dist to make the farmers of Ukhrul Dist self-reliant and introduce more economically profitable agriculture. The IGAR(South) interacted with the farmers and encouraged them to fully utilise the tour to explore the latest trends in agriculture.
