My prosaic translation from Bangla is:
Previously in Manipur, the Sanskrit language was highly coveted, and the nagarakshar/devanagri script was used. But, after Goswamis of Nabadvip became their mantra gurus, the Bengali language and the script began to be preferred by the people there. However, this has not resulted in the complete disappearance of devanagri. Manipuris who are well versed in Hindu dharmahastra have great respect for Srimadbhagavat and other Veishnav texts.

Don’t blame it on Rio

Even as the Union sports minister, Vijay Goel, and his unruly cohort bring disgrace upon the nation by bullying their way into prohibited spaces at Rio, our sportspersons have brought us little glory. Although hope lies undying within the human breast, it is highly unlikely that we will match our tally of the last Olympics.

I remember her fanatic plea to King Leishemba Sanajaoba to organise some form of hill and valley movement for the same during her meeting on 1/3/2016 at Shahid Minar. She had donated Rs 3/4 lakhs for the same, but nothing materialised. She knew that SHKL with a few members cannot organise the same.

Give Sharmila a breathing space

Similarly valley brethren and Women’s organisations should have a deep look into why Sharmila decided to end her fast. Time for us to treat her with deep affection and gentle care. We cannot throw her away like a placard. We have to give her a proper place to live in peacefully to crystallize her future course of action.

Introduction
Nowadays, the air pollution is one of the most serious problems faced by mankind resulting from growing population, increasing density in domestic areas, traffic etc. Air pollution caused by SO2 is rapidly increasing with economic activities both in small and metro cities in India. Will Irom Sharmila dare to take on Modi to fulfil her AFSPA promise?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi knows that even if he were to contest against Manipur CM Ibobi Singh in the 2017 Assembly elections, he would squarely lose in the Northeastern state. He must bring a local face to the fray. And therefore, this local – Irom Sharmila – has only stated publicly, “I want to be Manipur’s CM”. She never said, “I want to be India’s PM.”

Sharmila, Manipur and the struggle

On 9th August, another history was created. ‘Another’, because first was created in 1942 during Quit India Movement when Gandhi along with his companions was arrested by British. On this 9th August, here in Manipur, Irom Sharmila who moved on the path of non violence (Gandhi was also a follower of non violence) for 16 years (since the year 2000 to the year 2016), tried to bring her struggle in another form through quitting her 16 years long hunger fast.

Did you know AFSPA, 1958 before Sharmila’s hunger strike ?

It will be interesting to accentuate that most of our friends honestly admitted that they came to know about the AFSPA, 1958 only after Irom Chanu Sharmila’s protest against it. It was her continuous protest against this Act that made us go through the background and contents of the AFSPA, 1958.

I really don’t understand why people are annoyed when Sharmila gave up fasting. First of all she started the fast herself, nobody insisted or instigated her to do so.
