Jiribam, October 31: National Unity Day organized by 27th Assam rifles is being observed at Jiribam. As a part of the function, “Run for Unity” has been organized at around 6:00am starting from the Irawat Statue, Babupara to Chandrapur. Numbers of School students, VIPs, Assam Rifles, members of All Jiribam Sports Assn. and members of All Jiribam Walking Association also participated in the Run.

Jiribam 10-July-2015: Joint committee on Inner Line Permit System( JCILPS) Jiribam branch Volunteers of Students’ Wing, JCILPS women organization and civil organizations in the Jiribam sub division responded to the call of JCILPS and intensified their demand to introduce ILPS in Manipur.

Effigies of Manipur Chief Minister, Deputy CM and Education Minister were burnt today at different places in Jiribam. Protesters also burnt effigies in front of the residence of Revenue & Law Minister and Jiribam MLA Th. Debendra. Normal life has been affected in Jiribam due to the continued agitation.

JIRIBAM, July 25: The information & publicity secretary of United Tribal Liberation Army (UTLA), George Simte has clarified during a press meet that s/s general secretary of UTLA, Seineo Guite (29) alias James Kuki son of Lamthang Guite of New Lamka, CCpur who was arrested by the CDO of Jiribam Police on July 16 near Irabot statue was demoted from his post for violating the constitution of UTLA but has not expelled from UTLA.

Guite was allegedly arrested by the Jiribam police red-handed on extortion charges

George Simte said that there was no case of expelling the general secretary of UTLA.
